The benefits of volunteering

Whilst helping others you can have fun, keep active and really make a difference. Our volunteers benefit as well as our participants.

The vast majority of those at RDA are volunteers, whatever the job it has an impact. As we say

It's what you can do that counts!

Help at a group session

We need helpers to prepare and lead the ponies as well as walk alongside the riders. Volunteers really see the progress and joy of our participants. There's n
o need for any previous experience as training will be given. Some volunteers prefer to help in the background providing refreshments or setting out equipment. All are welcomed and valued.

Contact your local group for more info.

Coach

Most of our coaches are volunteers, some started as session helpers others come from an equestrian coaching background. All our coaches go through specialised training to coach disabled people.

For more info contact one of our Regional Coaches.

Be a trustee

Each of our groups is an individual small charity with a board of trustees who are responsible for governance and the direction of the group.

Groups need trustees from different backgrounds, as wide ranging as the worlds of equestrianism, business, finance, accessibility, law, advertising, participation and the charity sector. If you are interested in offering your services as a trustee then please contact your local group or County Chair.

Fundraise

As small charities our groups rely on fundraising as they receive no statutory income. Even the smallest of groups borrowing ponies needs several thousands pounds a year to keep running. The largest RDA Centres with their own ponies need over £100,000 to keep providing their services.

In the same way fundraising may involve anything from a small bake sale to a gala dinner.

For more info on how you can keep us doing the work we do please contact your local group.
